A small design team of math and English faculty and high school teachers met in late January 2014 to generate some preliminary ideas about the 12th grade college readiness courses. On April 15th we are hosting a meeting at South Seattle’s Georgetown campus for the broader group of math and English faculty and high school teachers who met there last fall to begin this work. The goal for the April 15th gathering will be for the larger group to review, refine and adopt proposals for these courses so that the more intensive work of adapting and developing instructional resource materials for these courses can happen this summer.
At the same time we are recruiting school districts–preferably districts with staff involved in the development of the courses–interested in working with a college partner and pilot-testing these courses during the 2014-15 academic year. This summer the teachers for these pilots would be involved in the development of the courses and receive professional development, both in the summer and during the academic year.
